449km driven.
We checked out of our hotel and took a short drive to Urunga. Then whole coast is full of rivers and bays, which makes it interesting and generally attractive. At Urunga there's a boardwalk through the magroves from the town to the river mouth which was a good chance to stretch our legs.
Our next stop was Port Macquarie, where we stumbled on a very good bakery (Bels) - it claimed to have won many awards and it's pies did seem pretty good. Then we drove around the town a bit, out to Point Settlement and along the beaches. Though by that time it was getting pretty rainy which discouraged exploration.
Then a fairly long drive the rest of the way to Newcastle. We did detour around Wallis Lake and Myall Lakes, which were impressive, I had no idea any of that area existed, though again it was drizzling which restricted visibility and stopped us doing more.
We got to Newcastle about 5pm, settled in, then explored and had dinner in an adjacent pub.
