Fraser Island

78km driven
A big breakfast and a leisurely morning today. The plan was to drive to the East Coast of the island and the beach is much more accessible as the tide gets lower.
We set off a bit after 11am and took a longer way to pass Lake Wabby. It's gradually getting smaller so was very visible from the lookout.

The roads are narrow, rutted and moguled so oncoming traffic can be challenging.

But we made it to the beach where the driving was much easier and we went north as far as Eli Creek and the wreck of the Maheno.

We got back about 4pm and went out to the cafe for dinner when it opened - the island is packed for the October long weekend and everywhere is very busy.
